Concern has been raised that local government reorganisation in the three areas primed by the government to progress with their unitary proposals could be postponed because of the difficulties of holding public consultations during the lockdown.
District and county council representatives from Cumbria, North Yorkshire and Somerset submitted their final business cases to the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government on 9 December and were given the opportunity to pitch their proposals to local government minister Luke Hall the following week.
